I finished a hat for 14” Bru. The main fabric is antique aqua colored silk and it’s not matched color with the dress. Yet blue velvet ribbon and feather tie them together. For some reason I thought this color goes well with the dress than using ecru or blue.

Bru嬢のボネが出来上がりました。 ドレスに使われていないアクアグリーンのシルク地をメインに使ったのですが、アクセントのべルベットリボンと羽でマッチ感を出してみました。このアクアの色の方がエクルやブルーの生地よりしっくりきたので使いました。あとは靴を作って完成です。私は10日後に出発するので、何とか間に合いそうです。(;^ω^)

I am leaving for Japan in two weeks and finally finished the Bru dress. ( Hooray!) I have used this design multiple times this year because it looks really nice on Bru dolls. Even though they have the same base design I can still create a different impression by using different colored fabrics and changing small details. I particularly like this cerulean blue silk taffeta which is very hard to find in modern fabric. This blue makes the doll look very special I think.

Now I need to finish the bonnet and shoes ASAP

あと二週間で日本へ出発するのですが、やっとBru嬢のドレスが完成しました。(*^▽^*)/　実はこのデザイン、今年はもう何回か使ったのですが、生地や色を変えるとどれも違った印象になります。特にこのセルリアンブルーのシルクタフタは、現代物の生地ではなかなか見つからない色と風合いなので、お人形をより引き立たせてくれると思います。さて、あとはボネと靴を急いで仕上げなければ。(;^ω^)

Even though the deadline is approaching, sometimes I make a dress half way and think, “Huh? It doesn’t look like what I imagined. It doesn’t look right on her“. That’s happening this time

I’m going to start over again by changing the design and color. This Bru definitely looks better in blue than red and gold …

This turquoise blue fabric I will be using is an antique gown from 1870’s silk taffeta. This fabric is very thin and crisp and has beautiful luster and it turns into heavy looking fabric by adding thick cotton backing.

締め切りが迫っているのに、ドレスを作り始めて“あれ？なんかイメージと違う。似合わない、おかしい、アカン😨”という事がたまにあります。 今回はそれーーー😭

今からまたデザインから色から変えて作り直します。この人やっぱり青の方が似合う…

一番似合うのは１８７０年代のドレスから取ったターコイズブルーの薄手で張りのあるシルクタフタ。経年のわりにとても状態が良い生地で、スカート部分はなんと縦シームが手縫いでされている時代の物。厚めの裏地をあてることで、驚くほど肉厚風で素晴らしい光沢がでるシルク地に変わります。
