It’s that time of the year again! Time flies so fast and I can hardly keep up. Due to large requests I have been receiving, I am taking orders for my new 2018 original calendar and my photo book I made last year. Oh, and little booklet I made for April event in Tokyo in English translation.

I will be gone to Japan in early December to mid December so I like to ship them out late November before I leave. I am taking orders starting today till November 11th Saturday.  Photo books come from Japan and I only have limited copies but I can order all calendars for requests I receive by due date.

I made Bru bonnet last time, now  it’s time to make one for AT doll. She originally had ecru color lace bonnet and I could just leave it for her. But I thought her bonnet should have bit darker tone to match lace I used for the dress.

前回はBru嬢のボネットを作ったので、今度はAT嬢の番です。彼女は初めからエクル色のレースボネットをかぶっていてこのままでもよかったのですが、ドレスのレースの色よりかなり白く浮き立っているので、もう少し濃い色のボネットの方がいいと思います。

Luckly I still had same edging lace left I used for the dress so I decided to make a new lace bonnet for her.

幸いにもドレスに使ったレースがまだ残っていたので、これを使って新しい物を作ってあげることにしました。

As you probably know, you need mega yardage of lace and silk ribbon in order to make lace bonnet. I ended up using 10 yards of edging lace to make this little bonnet.( OMG!) And 5 yards of silk ribbon. I would have used more ribbons if I had any supplies left . Sometimes it’s cheaper to buy antique bonnet instead of making one if you try to use expensive antique materials.

レースボネットを作ったことのある方はご存知だと思いますが、このタイプを作るに、はものすごい量のレースとリボンが必要です。私は結局アンティークレース10メートル、シルクリボン5メートルを使いました。もっとリボンの在庫があれば、さらに使いたかったのですが、あいにくここまでで無くなってしまいました。この場合、はっきり言ってアンティークのレースボネットを買った方が安上がりでしたね。

But at the end of the day, I am so glad I made this bonnet for her. She look so happy and it matches with her dress better than ecru bonnet.

でも結果を見ると、やっぱり作ってあげて正解でした。AT嬢もすごく嬉しそうですし、ドレスとお揃いのレースなので統一感ばっちりです。

The weather in Reno has been gorgeous since I came back and that makes me very restless wanting to go out for hiking. And that means my work is not progressing much.

帰って来てからリノのお天気が素晴らしいので、家にこもって仕事をする気が全く起きません。できれば一日中外で過ごしたいくらいです。（画像はいつも散歩道。アスピンの紅葉が見頃です）

But I am flying to Japan in one month so I have to get going finishing dolls I am taking with me. I finished a bonnet for my 19 inch Bru at least.

かと言って、あと一か月ほどで日本へ向けて出発するので、いい加減作品を仕上げないと。とりあえず19インチBru嬢のボネットを完成させました。

I made this bonnet from the same seafoam green antique fabric I used for the dress.

ドレスの使ったのと同じシーフォームグリーンのシルクを使いました。

I used damaged silk on purpose to give antique look. Some people may not like it but I just love this old look of silk.

古い感じを出すため、あえてダメージのある部分を使いましたが、これは人によっては好き嫌いがあるようですね。私はほころびた風合いのシルクが大好きなので、ドール全体の雰囲気に馴染むよう、こういった作風にしています

I met Michelle and her husband Alain three years ago when I had my first lunch meeting in London. We have been facebook friends for long time and I had an opportunity to visit her in France this time.　They live in beautiful coastal city of Dinard Brittany. It was cloudy this day but water was still in emerald color.

私がミシェルとアランご夫妻にお会いしたのは、3年前ロンドンで初めてランチミーテイングを開いたときでした。ミシェルとはそれ以前からフェイスブックの友達でしたが、今回彼女の家へご招待を受けたので、お言葉に甘えてお伺いすることにしました。ご夫妻はフランスブリュターニュ地方の美しい街ディナードに住んでいます。ロンドンから飛行機で1時間余りのディナードに到着した日はあいにくの雨でしたが、それでも海は美しいエメラルドカラーでした。この辺りは、かつてイギリスの上流階級によってリゾート地として開発された土地だそうで、今でも当時建てられた豪邸が海辺にたくさん残っています。

ミシェルのお宅は家全体がまるでドールハウスのようでした。

She has a Bru doll made by me and she dressed the doll in her favorite color of pink!

何年か前にヘッドのみでお譲りしたBru嬢もいました。ミシェルが彼女のお気に入りの色のピンクでドレスをコーディネイトしてくれました。可愛くなって再会。母は嬉しいです。

Her husband Alain is also an artist. He made all these doll house furniture!

ご主人のアランさんは趣味でドールハウスサイズの家具を作ったり、家じゅうの家具や壁のペインティングをしたりしてるのですが、ほとんどプロ並みの出来です。

We took a day trip to Mont Saint-Michel UNESCO world heritage site next day.

からりと晴れた次の日は、近くにあるユネスコ世界遺産モン．サン．ミシェル修道院までドライブしてきました。

Streets inside wall is so narrow! Looks and feels just like village you see in story book.

城壁の内側に入ると狭い通りを建物がひしめき合っていて、まるでおとぎ話に出てくるヴィレッジのようです。

Yet, inside abbey above hill is very spacious.

丘の上にある修道院までたどり着くと、見た目よりずっと広いチャペルがいくつもの部屋に分かれてありました。

丘の上からの眺望。この日はあいにく干潮だたっため海に浮かんでいるお城のようには見えませんでしたが、その代わり砂浜が地平線まで続いていました。

点のように見えるのは、浜を歩いている観光客。

We stopped by at Dolly Cafe’ for aperitif at near by town of Saint-Malo . Actual name of the cafe’ was very long in French so I could not remember ….

その日の夜はアぺリティフを飲みに、サン．マロウという街のこんな素敵なカフェに立ち寄りました。名前が長すぎて覚えていないのですが、ドールファンには夢のような空間です。

ブリターニュ地方では本当に楽しいひと時を過ごさせてもらいました。旅をするときは観光だけでなく、やはり地元の人たちとの交流が旅を一層楽しいものにしてくれますよね。さて次の行き先は南フランスコートダジュールです。

I just came back from trip to UK and France! The purpose of this tip was to look for particular doll supplies but I did not forget to cover the area I missed when I was there last time. I will show you photos of my trip in next few entries. First stop London!

ヨーロッパから帰ってきました！どうしても探さなければならない材料があったのではるばるヨーロッパまで行ったのですが、もちろん観光も忘れていません。前回行けなかった場所を中心にいろいろ巡ってきました。まずはロンドンから。****************************************************************************************************

I was able to get a ticket to visit inside Buckingham Palace on last day of this season. The Palace is open to public only during summer when queen is away for summer break.

エリザベス女王が夏季休暇中にだけ公開されるバッキングハム宮殿、公開最終日のチケットを手に入れることが出来たので、さっそく到着初日から宮殿ツアーです。

No photography was allowed inside palace but Royal Mews was okay to take photos. Now that’s the fairly tale carriage!

でも宮殿内の撮影は禁止なので、代わりに馬車の画像を。ダイアナ妃が結婚式に使った馬車や、エリザベス女王が使う馬車など多数展示してありましたが、やはりダントツで目立つのはこの馬車でした。いかにもシンデレラに出てきそうな18世紀に作られたこの馬車は、あまりに重くて乗り心地が悪いそうなので、めったに使われないそうです。

Off to Tate Museum to meet Ophelia finally. She was out on world tour when I came to see her last time.

前回ツアー中でお目にかかれなかったミレイ作の”オフィーリア”、今回再びテート美術館を訪れて、ついにお目にかかることができました。オフィーリアも美しいですが、私は背景に何故かとても惹かれるのです。

ロンドンに来たらやっぱりマーケットでのお買い物は外せませんよね。

Found lots of goodies at the market. You can never have enough lace and silk for doll making.

今回もがっつりいいものを探し当てました。レースとシルクはいくつあっても足りません。
