I fired off red tone from previously made Bru head and repainted with pinker skin tone. I I also changed color and shape of lips.
Still using the same antique glass eyes but new painting of this head makes her look so much sweeter.
I am using this head to make complete doll for exhibition. I am so glad I decided to repaint this head. 😊

一作目ヘッドのアイカットとグラスアイは気にいっているのですが、絵付けが気に入らなくて前回二作目ヘッドをつくりました。でも二作目ヘッドに使ったグラスアイは満足できるものではなく、アイカットも一作目ヘッドより若干小さいため同じアイは使えず、結局どちらのヘッドにするか決められませんでした。最終手段として”一作目ヘッドの絵付けを高温で焼き飛ばし、絵付けをやり直す”があったのですが、リスクが大きいためちょっと躊躇していました。まあ、だめだったらまた作り直せばいいか、という気持ちになって、一作目ヘッドの絵付けを高温で焼いて赤系の色を飛ばしてみたら大丈夫だったので、さっそく絵付けをし直しました。今回は肌色のピンクを濃くして、唇の色と形を変えました。同じヘッドなのですが、やり直したヘッドはとてもかわいらしい表情になったので、このヘッドで完成品を作ろうと思います。ちなみにグラスアイは同じ物を使用しています。

I made another Bru head for 19 inch doll because I did not like the shape of upper lip and pale skin tone of first head. ( it’s hard to tell by the photo but they were bothering me). I can make skin color darker but can not change the shape of lip at this point so I went ahead to make another head. Apparently second head’s eye cut was slightly smaller and antique eyes I used for the first head were too large to fit in. Fortunately I had another set of antique eyes that work for the second head so I used them instead. As a result, these heads have completely different look and I still can’t make up my mind which head to use. I will spend few more days looking at them and will decide eventually. (^▽^)

先日作った一作目の50センチBruのヘッドですが、肌の色が白すぎたのと、上唇の形が気に入らなかったのとで、結局二作目を制作しました。肌の色を濃くする事はできますが、この段階で唇の形を変える事は出来ません。やはり納得する作品ができるまで完成品を仕上げる気持ちになれない性分なので、作り直しました。二作目のヘッドはアイカットが一作目より少しちいさかったようで、同じグラスアイは使えませんでした。幸い虹彩がワンサイズ小さめのアンティークアイがあったので、そちらを使ってみました。その結果、まったく違うタイプのヘッドに出来上がりました。どちらを使うかはまだ決めていません。しばらく両方眺めて好きになった方を使います。(^▽^)

My first trial head for 24 inch Bru Jne just came out from kiln. Look at these fabulous antique eyes! Her irises are in much smaller scale against her eye socket compare to 19 inch Bru head I just made the other day and that gives her classic cool Bru Jne look.

60センチ用のBruヘッド＃１が出来上がりました。先日作った50センチ用のヘッドに比べて虹彩のサイズが小さいので、典型的なクールな表情のBru嬢になりました。やはりあの張り出しのある貴重なアンティークアイの効果、すごいです。

I am using these pair of beautiful antique blue eyes for 19 inch Bru head.                     24 inch Bru head is still in progress, meanwhile I finished this 19 inch Bru head # 1.
I have to spend few days with her to find out whether I want to use this head to make a complete doll for exhibition. Sometimes I need extra time to get use to my new girl to figure out if she is a right one.

60センチのBru嬢のヘッドはまだ制作途中なのですが、50センチのヘッド1号は今日最終絵付けを終えて窯から出しました。このヘッドには画像の素晴らしいアンティークアイを使います。出来上がったばかりの娘に慣れるまで数日かかるので、まずはこのヘッドをしばらく眺めて好きかどうか、この子で展示会用の完成品を作りたいかどうか、よく考えてから決めたいと思います。

I have been saving these super bulged crystal dome antique eyes for special doll and it’s time to use them!
My next doll will be 24 inch Bru Jne for exhibition in Tokyo this fall.
It will be group exhibition with total of 20 top Japanese doll artists and I think larger size doll would look good on this special occasion. I will also be making 50 inch Bru Jne with antique eyes for this exhibition. Details will be posted later on so please look forward!

このドームがものすごく盛り上がったスーパーレアなアンティークアイ、特別な作品に使おうと思ってずっととっておきました。今回いよいよ出番がありそうです。秋に東京で行われるグループ展に、このアンティークアイを使って60センチのBru 嬢を制作しようと思います。総勢20人の作家さんが参加する大きな展示会なので、やはり大きめの作品が映えるのではと思います。60センチのほかに、アンティークアイを使った50センチのBru嬢も同時制作します。詳細はまた後程。お楽しみに！

Just came back from convention in Nashville. It was such a fun event meeting with new friends and reunited with old friends! Seminar I attended was very educational, sales room was awesome and I found many good supplies, what an eventful one week! Here are highlights of what I did.

ナッシュビルでのコンベンションから帰ってきました！今回は日本から市松人形師の藤村光環さんと山崎明咲さんがセールスルームに初参加されて、今まで以上に楽しいイベントとなりました。まずは画像でご覧下さい。

Convention was held at Gayload Opryland Resort hotel in Nashville. It’s so huge and took me 3 days to figure out how to get around. ホテルがアミューズメントパークのように広くて、地図を把握するののに3日くらいかかりました。(;^ω^)

We went to Theriault’s auction at Westine hotel before convention コンベンション開始の前日に、別会場で行われているTheriaultsのオークションを見学に行きました。

今回のオークションでは1千万円越えのお人形も出るなど、なかなかエキサイティングでした。

We went to downtown Nashville one night. せっかくナッシュビルまできたので、さっそくダウンタウンへ繰り出しました。

今回のコンベンションには、藤村さんと山崎さんの他にデザイナーの平塚さんとテキスタイル専門家の呂藝 さんも参加されました

I attended Diana Effener’s dinner event. I started making dolls inspired by her dolls 19 years ago. What an honor to meet my admirer! ダイアナエフナーさんのデイナーイベントに参加しました。19年前にビスクドールを作り始めるきっけかとなったのは、彼女の作品に魅了されたからです。そのご本人にお会い出来て感激です！現在の私があるのは彼女のおかげなのです。(｡･ω･｡)ﾉ♡

I attended Alan Scott Pate’s seminar “18th Century Japanese Fashion Doll”. I learned so much about history of these dolls and Japanese culture during this period. His lecture is never dull! 今回もアランさんの講義を取りました。明治ー江戸時代の衣装人形について。人形を通して当時の文化を深く掘り下げた素晴らしい内容でした。アランさんの講義は何回出席しても目から鱗の私です。

アランさんの講義で取り上げられた明治ー江戸時代の人形が、特別展示されている会場がありました。まずは人形について学び、次に実物を堪能すると、作品についての理解が一層深まります。これぞコンベンションの醍醐味ですね。 Antique dolls that was referred at Alan’s lecture were on special display during convention. I was able to understand each dolls with more depth after attending his lecture. Who knew studying is this fun!

最終日の晩餐会。今回のコンベンション参加者は1200人とすごい数でした。 Convention final day banquet . There were 1200 participants this year.

この二人のBru嬢は、この秋11月2日に東京懐古どおるさんにてお披露目いたします。私は来週から始まるナッシュビルでのUFDCコンベンションに参加するため、今月末までお休みします。帰ってきたら、11月末から東京で開催予定のグループ展出品用の作品に取り掛かりたいと思います。展示会の詳細は、また後程お知らせいたしますね。

These two new Bru dolls will be exhibited and sold in Tokyo early this November.  I will be taking a break till end of July in order to participate UFDC convention in Nashville. I will resume doll making in August to make two more dolls for another group exhibition scheduled in late November in Tokyo. Look forward to seeing my doll friends in Nashville!

Here are dress and bonnet for my 16 inch Bru. Made entirely from antique materials. I love the color combination and silhouette of this dress. It’s my favorite style. I used antique seafoam color silk chiffon with plenty of ruffles to make matched hat. This is also my favorite style bonnet. —  She will be exhibited in Tokyo this fall !

16インチのBru嬢のドレスとボネが完成しました。すべてアンティーク素材で作られた、お気に入りのデザインのドレスです。お揃いのボネも、アンティークのシフォン生地をふんだんに使ってギャザーを寄せたデザインで、私の好きなスタイルです。

I am working on my next project, making a dress for 16 inch Bru Jne 6.
I have been looking forward to use this mint color antique silk fabric to make a dress for a special doll for quite some time. I think she will look great on this color!
BruJne4のドレスが完成したので、さっそく次のプロジェクト,BruJne6のドレス制作に入っています。去年買い付けしたミントグリーンの素晴らしいアンティークシルク地を特別な娘のために取っておいたのですが、この娘によく似合うのでさっそく使ってみようと思います。
