いよいよ35センチのBruJne４のお披露目です。この作品は貴重なアンティークのシェブロゥボディとアンティークグラスアイを使った、私が作るリプロの中でも最もアンティークBruに近い作品です。ヘッド、ドレス、ボネ、下着、靴は私が制作しました。ウィッグはアンティークのモヘアウィッグです。ヴィンテージグラスのイヤリングとヴィンテージのメッシュバッグは付属品です。なお、アンティークボディには修復が施してありますので、過去のブログより詳細を参考にしてください。こちら

Her dress is made from antique turquoise color silk taffeta. ドレスはターコイズ色のアンティークシルクタフタ地で作りました。

I made this Bru style little leather shoes with nickel buckle. Socks are vintage rayon socks. Bruスタイルのニッケルのバックルがついた革靴を作りました。靴下はビンテージのレイヨンソックスです。

I made bonnet for my little Bru!  The base fabric is ecru antique silk satin and I covered front brim with antique silk organdy. The accent ribbon is pale mint green color. I made few flowers with same organdy fabric to decorate front brim. I use to use millinery flowers as decoration but I wanted to try something new this time. I really like chic looks of this organdy flower.

Bru嬢のボネットが出来上がりました！　ベースとなる部分にはアンティークのエクリュ色シルク地を使い、フロントのブリムにはオーガンジーを被せました。飾りのリボンは薄いミントグリーンです。いつもならヴィンテージの布花で飾り付けするところですが、今回はボネのサイズが小さいこともあってちょっと違った風にしてみたくて、フロント部分と同じオーガンジーの布で花を作ってアクセントにしてみました。このさりげないシックな感じが気に入っています。やはり小さいサイズのドレスやボネは、シンプルに仕上げた方が全体にまとまりが出ていい感じです。

I have been making lots of adjustments for the dress of 14 inch Bru since I started. I could use more complicated design but it would look too busy for such small size doll so I settled with this design. I think this type of dress with wide neck opening and narrow waist is just perfect Bru with Chevrot body. I have made similar dresses in the past and I could not resist to make another one. I always try to make a dress looks the best for each doll and if the doll has the similar look, I tend to make similar dress. 🙂

35㎝のBru嬢用のドレスを作り始めてから、デザインをあれこれいじっていたのですが、結局このデザインに収まりました。出来上がってみると割とシンプルな作りなのですが、小さいお人形なのであれこれ凝ったデザインはゴテゴテして見栄えが良くないのでいろいろ引き算しました。似たようなデザインのドレスは過去にも作りましたが、私はそれぞれの作品に一番似合うドレスを作ることを目標としているので、お顔が似ていると、ドレスも似たようなの物になりがちですね。

I added different pleated pattern at left side of the skirt　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　スカート部分には、パターンの違ったプリーツを左側に入れました。

I just love bustle style dress with narrow waist. Who else can wear dress like this beside Bru?　　私好みの細いウエストにバッスルスタイルの後ろ、Bru嬢以外にこれを着れるお人形はいないですよね。

Choosing right color and texture of fabric for each doll is always time consuming because I never know what works the best till I actually drape fabric over the doll. First I have to dig in to my large pile of fabric stash which creates giant mess in my doll room ( imagine polling out all your clothes from closet to pick a right dress for a party) and find few fabrics that may work for the doll, then drape over each of them to find the best. It’s usually one full day work just for this. Once fabric is chosen, next is choosing the design. This will take another few more days for me. I thought some design might work one day then next day I change my mind. Going back and forth over few designs till I am absolutely sure about it.Sewing is time consuming of course but process before I get to sewing stage takes as much as sewing alone. It seems I am wasting lot of time just to make one dress but I will not satisfy with the result if I short cut this process. So this few days of waste of time is actually very important in order to create something wonderful.

作品のドレスの色や生地を決めるのは、私にはとても時間のかかる作業です。というのも、頭の中であれが似合いそう、、と思っても実際に生地を作品にあててみるまで分からないからです。それをするにはまず、在庫の生地を部屋中にひっくり返して似合いそうな物を数点選びます。（もうすでにこの時点は部屋は大散らかし）そして生地を作品に当ててみて似合うものを見つけたら、次はデザインを決めます。で、またまた参考書やファイルを部屋中に散らかして、数日かけてデザインを決めます。今日良い！と思ったデザインも次の日になったらまるでダメ、という事がしばしばあるからです。こちらでは、大事な決断をするときは、まず一晩寝てから、という言い回しがあるのですが、まさにその通り。二、三日経っても良い！と思えるものはやはり後々まで飽きがこないようです。裁縫にかける時間はもちろん長いですが、それよりも、そこまで行きつく段階が、私にとっては実際に縫っている時間くらい長かったりします。でもこのプロセスを端折ったらやっぱり出来上がりに不満が出るので、いい作品作りには欠かせない無駄な時間です。

I don’t use this kind of sage color fabric very often so I wanted to try, but color is too pale for her.　こういう淡いセイジグリーンはあまり使わないので試してみたかったのですが、この子にはインパクト弱すぎでボツです。

This cranberry red silk is my favorite but maybe not for her ??　このクランベリーレッドのシルクはお気に入りの一つなのですが、この子には合わないかな？？

I think this dusky blue-gray water-marked silk taffeta works the best to complement her eye color.　このブルーグレィのシルクタフタは、この子のブルーアイを一番引き立ててくれるのでこれに決まりです。

I have not decide which wig to use, playing with different colored wig between designing is fun　デザインを考えて煮詰まっているときは、ウィッグを変えて遊んだりしてちょっと一息。この色も結構似合う感じ。

Since I posted info of my new doll, I have received numbers of inquiries. I am so glad to know that she is being loved by many doll fans! I am posting more detailed information about her antique Chevrot body this time to answer some of questions. It has repairs at back side of shoulder plate and both side of fingers. ( please refer to photos below) I could make new parts instead of using repaired parts however, I thought leaving original parts ( even if they are repaired) would be more appropriate to keep the integrity of the body. If you prefer to have a doll with no flaw, this doll may not be for you.

前回新作のヘッドをご紹介して以来、たくさんのお問合せをいただいています。いい子ができると、その反響の多さに毎回驚かされます。新作に使われているアンティークボディについてのお問合せもたくさんいただいたので、この場をお借りして詳しい情報を載せたいと思います。このシェブローボディには、ショルダープレートと、両方のビスクハンド指の部分にリペアがあります。すでに修理、塗装されているのじっくり見ないと修理の後などは見えませんが、修理無しのボディにこだわる方にはお勧めできません。私の方で新たなパーツを作って取り付けることもできますが、せっかくのアンティークボディ、たとえ修理が入っていてもオリジナルの部品を使う方が私個人としては好きです。なので、あえてこのままの状態で使うことにしました。

The first Bru Jne 4 head I made for 14 inch Bru did not have the look I wanted so I made another one. I was very lucky to be able to find these high crystal dome antique blue eyes perfect for this small head. They are extremely hard to find compare to larger size antique eyes. I changed the shape of lips and eyebrows on new head but using different color of eyes made the biggest difference on their look.

先日作った一作目のBruJne４のヘッドはあまり好みではなかったので、二個目を作り直しました。今回は、幸運にもこの小さなヘッドにぴったりなアンティークのグラスアイを探し当てることが出来、より私好みの子が完成しました。クリスタルドームが張り出している小さいサイズのアンティークアイを探し出すのは、大きいサイズよりもずっと大変で、何年も探していますがなかなか見つかりません。今回は本当にラッキーでした。新しいヘッドでは、唇とまゆ毛の絵付けを少し変えてみたのですが、そういう細かい部分よりも、やはり何と言ってもグラスアイの違いが一番インパクトが出ますね。

February came and gone and I feel like I did not accomplished anything. I was doing some prep work for May workshop between watching Olympic and doing tax prep. I don’t usually manufacturer multiple doll parts at one once so this is very time consuming. I am also trying to develop original pattern of Chevrot body from antique Bru Chevrot body instead of using conventional body pattern I have been using. This job also turned out to be challenging because original Bru body pattern is very different from conventional one. I feel like I opened can of worms I am not suppose to. 🙁 Meanwhile I have been receiving few inquiries about my next doll for sale. I started Schmitt doll last time but that’s not going to finish anytime soon since I have plenty prep work to do for May workshop. I have decided to make 14 inch Bru Jne 4 by using antique Chevrot body I am using to make body pattern from. At least I can tell everyone that’s what my next doll will be. 🙂

二月はなんだか何も完成できないまま、あと問う間に過ぎ去ってしまいました。😨実はオリンピック観戦と確定申告の準備の合間に、5月のワークショップの準備を少しづつすすめていたのですが、一度に何体ものパーツを量産するのには慣れていなので、すごく時間がかかっています。おまけに、せっかくだからとワークショップ用にシェブローボディのパターンをアンティークのボディから取ってみよう、などと思ったのが間違いでした。なんと、いままで使っていた既成のパターンと形がかなり違うことを発見して、試行錯誤の繰り返し。これでまた時間がかかっています。前回は自分用にシュミットを作ろう、なんて気軽に始めたのですが、それどころではなくなってしまいました。いい加減次の作品にも取りかからないと、けっこう”次はいつ頃販売予定ですか？”などというお問合せもぽつぽつ来ていて、気落ちばかり焦っています。というわけで新作は、アンティークボディを使った35ｃｍほどのBruJne4を作ろうと思います。

This will be my first doll for sale this year,14 inch Bru Jne 4 with antique Chevrot body. However, I do not like result of this head so I will be making another one.　　　　　　    今年初めての新作は、このアンティークボディを使った35ｃｍほどのBruJne4です。　試作品のこのヘッドは出来上がりが気に入らないのでボツにして、また新しいのを作り直します。

I am making new body pattern from this antique Chevrot body.　　　　　　　　　　　           　ワークショップ用のボディパターンを、オリジナルのBruシェブローボディから取ってみることにしました。

At least I made SFGW for May workshop. They will be cleaned and bisque fired, then I will apply skin tone in order to save time during workshop.　ワークショップ用のSFGWが出来ました。ワークショップの時間を有効に使うため、これからビスク焼成をして、肌色の絵付けまでしてから皆さんにお顔の絵付けをしてもらいます。

I’ve always wanted to make Schmitt reproduction doll but never had a chance till now. Despite of the fact that antique Schmitt doll comes with few different types of faces, available head mold for reproduction doll is very limited. Fortunately there is one mold happen to have the face I like and she makes 14 inch cabinet size doll. I do prefer bit larger size like around 20 inches but that’s okay. I am making this doll just for fun to keep as part of my collection. I know many of you are waiting for my next doll for sale but this kind of small pleasure helps to inspire me to make better dolls in future.

ずっと前からシュミットのリプロを作ってみたかったのですが、今回やっとその時間が取れました。アンティークのシュミットにはいろんなタイプのお顔がありますが、リプロ用のモールドの種類は限られています。幸いにもこのモールドは、私が好きなタイプのシュミットのお顔なのでラッキーでした。完成後の背丈は34センチと、私の希望よりは小さいのですが（できれば50センチくらいが好み）まあ良しとしましょう。この子は私のコレクション用として制作するので、残念ながら販売用ではありません。次の作品を心待ちにしてくださっている方も多く大変ありがたいのですが、時にはこういった息抜きが、次の作品をもっと良いものにするために必要だったりするのです。

Here is another extra doll head I am playing with. This is 19 inch Mulatto Bru Jne 11 head.

手持ちのムラトーＢｒｕのヘッドがあったので、ちょっと遊んでみました。

I had these vintage brown paper weight eyes from unknown company. They have very high crystal domes and nice threaded patterns. They fit perfectly for this head. I wish I could find maker of these eyes.( They are not from Hand craft or Kanis eyes, or Schoepfers eye)

この子に使ったグラスアイはビンテージものでメーカー不明です。張り出しがとても大きくて瞳の模様も美しく、アンティークアイ好きの私でも納得する品質です。一体だれが作ったんでしょうか？
