I wanted to use smaller iris glass eyes for my new Bru doll but eye holes seemed bit too large against irises. So I made another head with smaller eye cut. I think the balance of irises and eye holes seem better with this new head. I like this one better than the first head I made.
I just acquired another antique eyes I could used for my newest 14” Bru doll that I am making for the exhibition. These eyes( on the right ) have one size larger irises. Which looks do you like better?
I finished painting a 14 inch Bru Jne 4 head for exhibition in Japan this November.
I temporarily set antique blue eyes and she looks great! I think I am going to use these eyes for her. I added a blonde mohair wig and hat to get some ideas how she would look when she is dressed. Trying out wigs and hats will give me some clue when I design a dress for each doll. She seems to go well with red color. I know she would definitely look good with blue but I have been making dolls with blue dresses a lot lately so I love to try red this time.
My newest creation 16” Bru Jne 6 has completed! She has an antique Chevrot body and antique oval glass eyes. This type of Bru doll is the closest to an antique Bru doll that I can create.
Her pink and ecru dress and bonnet are made from all antique materials. I used the design from a traditional Bru style dress because it will show off her beautiful bisque breast plate and narrow waist.
Her wig is an antique hand-tied mohair wig with the marking number ” 6″ inside the cap.
I made a pair of Bru leather shoes with “Bru Jne Paris” stamp on the sole. She also comes with a matching pink parasol.
She would be very close to my ideal Bru Jne doll that I would love to have in my collection She looks so sweet and melts your heart when you gaze at her.
I hope she will make the new owner very happy too ! ( this doll is reserved )
Here is a Bru dress for my newest 15” Bru doll I just finished. This design is my favorite style to dress my Bru dolls and I use it quite often. The original design was from an antique Bru doll owned by Mildred Seeley and the pattern is available from several different companies. ( I usually alter some details the way I like) I never get tired of it no matter how many times I make them.
Working on 15” Bru dress little by little. Try not to over work my neck and shoulders. The most complicated part of the jacket is finished at last.
I used silk brocade fabric taken from this antique Victorian bodice. This color and patterns are very hard to come by and I had to use it for my precious doll . (。・ω・。)ノ♡
We were having snow not so long ago but now summer came in full swing! Wild flowers started blooming in a hurry after a long long winter. How lovely!
Meanwhile I finally finished making undergarments for my 15″ Bru. I have been treating my shoulder bursitis for the last few weeks so my sewing progress is very slow…
