Just came back from convention in Nashville. It was such a fun event meeting with new friends and reunited with old friends! Seminar I attended was very educational, sales room was awesome and I found many good supplies, what an eventful one week! Here are highlights of what I did.

ナッシュビルでのコンベンションから帰ってきました！今回は日本から市松人形師の藤村光環さんと山崎明咲さんがセールスルームに初参加されて、今まで以上に楽しいイベントとなりました。まずは画像でご覧下さい。

Convention was held at Gayload Opryland Resort hotel in Nashville. It’s so huge and took me 3 days to figure out how to get around. ホテルがアミューズメントパークのように広くて、地図を把握するののに3日くらいかかりました。(;^ω^)

We went to Theriault’s auction at Westine hotel before convention コンベンション開始の前日に、別会場で行われているTheriaultsのオークションを見学に行きました。

今回のオークションでは1千万円越えのお人形も出るなど、なかなかエキサイティングでした。

We went to downtown Nashville one night. せっかくナッシュビルまできたので、さっそくダウンタウンへ繰り出しました。

今回のコンベンションには、藤村さんと山崎さんの他にデザイナーの平塚さんとテキスタイル専門家の呂藝 さんも参加されました

I attended Diana Effener’s dinner event. I started making dolls inspired by her dolls 19 years ago. What an honor to meet my admirer! ダイアナエフナーさんのデイナーイベントに参加しました。19年前にビスクドールを作り始めるきっけかとなったのは、彼女の作品に魅了されたからです。そのご本人にお会い出来て感激です！現在の私があるのは彼女のおかげなのです。(｡･ω･｡)ﾉ♡

I attended Alan Scott Pate’s seminar “18th Century Japanese Fashion Doll”. I learned so much about history of these dolls and Japanese culture during this period. His lecture is never dull! 今回もアランさんの講義を取りました。明治ー江戸時代の衣装人形について。人形を通して当時の文化を深く掘り下げた素晴らしい内容でした。アランさんの講義は何回出席しても目から鱗の私です。

アランさんの講義で取り上げられた明治ー江戸時代の人形が、特別展示されている会場がありました。まずは人形について学び、次に実物を堪能すると、作品についての理解が一層深まります。これぞコンベンションの醍醐味ですね。 Antique dolls that was referred at Alan’s lecture were on special display during convention. I was able to understand each dolls with more depth after attending his lecture. Who knew studying is this fun!

最終日の晩餐会。今回のコンベンション参加者は1200人とすごい数でした。 Convention final day banquet . There were 1200 participants this year.

この二人のBru嬢は、この秋11月2日に東京懐古どおるさんにてお披露目いたします。私は来週から始まるナッシュビルでのUFDCコンベンションに参加するため、今月末までお休みします。帰ってきたら、11月末から東京で開催予定のグループ展出品用の作品に取り掛かりたいと思います。展示会の詳細は、また後程お知らせいたしますね。

These two new Bru dolls will be exhibited and sold in Tokyo early this November.  I will be taking a break till end of July in order to participate UFDC convention in Nashville. I will resume doll making in August to make two more dolls for another group exhibition scheduled in late November in Tokyo. Look forward to seeing my doll friends in Nashville!

Here are dress and bonnet for my 16 inch Bru. Made entirely from antique materials. I love the color combination and silhouette of this dress. It’s my favorite style. I used antique seafoam color silk chiffon with plenty of ruffles to make matched hat. This is also my favorite style bonnet. —  She will be exhibited in Tokyo this fall !

16インチのBru嬢のドレスとボネが完成しました。すべてアンティーク素材で作られた、お気に入りのデザインのドレスです。お揃いのボネも、アンティークのシフォン生地をふんだんに使ってギャザーを寄せたデザインで、私の好きなスタイルです。

I am working on my next project, making a dress for 16 inch Bru Jne 6.
I have been looking forward to use this mint color antique silk fabric to make a dress for a special doll for quite some time. I think she will look great on this color!
BruJne4のドレスが完成したので、さっそく次のプロジェクト,BruJne6のドレス制作に入っています。去年買い付けしたミントグリーンの素晴らしいアンティークシルク地を特別な娘のために取っておいたのですが、この娘によく似合うのでさっそく使ってみようと思います。

I finally manage to finish red dress for 14 inch Bru. It’s a classic Bru style dress and it always looks good on small size doll like her.  I used my favorite organdy ruffles on front brim of the bonnet. These dress and bonnet make her sweet face even sweeter!

お陰様で裁縫ができるまで体調が回復し、35センチのBru嬢のドレスがなんとか完成しました。トラディショナルなBruスタイルのドレスですが、小さめの子にはとてもよく似合います。ボネットは、私が大好きなオーガンジーのフリルをつば部分にたっぷり使いました。彼女の優しい表情に似合った可愛いお支度です。(^▽^)/

I am starting sewing again! It’s been three months since I used sewing needles last time.  I am still unable to lift heavy object with my right arm but recovered enough to be able to sew at least. I never realized how much sewing causes stress on my shoulder and neck muscle till I injured them. I am working cautiously and taking a break every 30 min to avoid over working muscle but I am just so happy that I can finally push needle without much pain.   I will be making a dress for 14 inch Bru first because I love her face and that increases my motivation. I can not create a quality doll if I don’t have that ” wanting” feeling inside of me.   I picked these red antique silk fabrics for her. She is definitely a pink or red kind of girl. I have been feeling bit low for last few months by looking at naked dolls on my desk while I could not work on them. But now I got that excitement back again and want to finish them so badly!

I receive many inquiries about my dolls but I am not able to respond occasionally because sender’s email address is not valid address or sender’s name is not written. In case you are one of who did not receive response from me, here are answers to frequent asked questions.

Q : Do you take any custom orders?

A : Unfortunately I do not take any custom orders including dress only or head only.

Q : Are new dolls posted on blog available?

A : Dolls I am making currently are for exhibition in Japan this fall and not available to public. Hopefully I will be making more dolls for sale to public from my website next year as my physical condition improves.

Q : How do I purchase your new doll when it’s available from website?

A : I can only create very few dolls per year now and I post progress of new doll on my blog and Facebook, Instagram when I start making. Please email me to inquire about dolls that you are interested including price. I often have multiple buyers by the time doll is finished and use lottery system to choose a buyer. Each doll have fixed price and it is not an auction. My email address is bebesbysayuri1@gmail.com.  You will get response faster if you include your name and email address in the mail. I do not respond to email without sender’s name or correct email address.

I completed Bru Jne 4 head to make 14 inch doll. She turned out to have sweet face and I am very pleased. I took photos with Bru Jne 6 head side by side and you can see how different they are. I am taking both of them to sales event in Tokyo this fall.

作りかけだった４号Ｂｒｕヘッドの絵付けも完成しました。この子には少し大きめの虹彩が入ったグラスアイを入れたので、６号Ｂｒｕと比べて幼く可愛らしい雰囲気になりました。二人とも秋の懐古どおるさんでの展示会へ連れて行きます。お楽しみに:-)

リノの冬があまりにも長かったので、お花見を兼ねてニューヨークへ行ってきました。でもニューヨークはもっと寒かった。😅
最終日にやっと少し暖かくなって、セントラルパークで念願のお花見(八重桜）が出来たのでまあ満足です。🥰
今回は5年前に行かなかった場所を中心に、街歩きをしました。
メトロポリタン美術館では、源氏物語の特別展示を開催していて、古典に混じってなんと大和和紀さんの”あさきゆめみし”の原画が展示されていて、往年のファンとしては原画がみれて感無量。😭　日本の漫画家さんのイラストには芸術的価値があるとかねてより思っていましたが、それが認められたみたいで嬉しいです！私にとってはルノワールと同じくらい価値のある作品です。帰ってきてさっそく”あさきゆめみし”一気読みしています。ほかにも、ロックの殿堂入りしたミュージシャンの貴重な楽器の特別展示があり、あのビートルズのドラム、ギターやジミヘンのギター、イーグルスのダブルヘッドギターなどなど、この機会でなければお目にかかれない名器がゾロリで、よい思い出に。メトロポリタン、やるなー！
ブロードウェイではヘップバーンの映画でおなじみの”マイフェアレデイ”のミュージカルを堪能しました。映画と同じ構成、曲目なのですが、さすがライブで聴くと迫力がぜんぜん違いますね。観客総立ちの素晴らしいショウでした。
〆は新しくできたワールドトレードセンターの展望台に上がって、マンハッタンを眺め、ブルックリンブリッジを歩いて渡り、その日はなんと２０ｋｍ以上歩いていました。さすがに疲れた😖
でも、観たいところ全部まわれた良い旅でした。
これから秋の日本での展示会に向けて頑張ります。

Soon as my neck is feeling little better, I could not wait to finish Bru head I was working on. ( sorry doctor, being a bad patient here😣)

首の調子が少し良くなったら、どうしても作りかけのヘッドを完成させたくて絵付けしてしまいました。（悪い患者ですみません、ドクター😣）　　　　　　　　　　　この子は秋に日本へ連れて行く予定のＢｒｕＪｎｅ６です。完成すると40センチくらいになります。
