I repainted lower legs just to give bit more aged look.

下肢の部分をもう少しアンティークっぽくなるようペイントし直しました。

I finished her Chevrot style Bru body today. I used vintage kidskin to make her leather part this time. Therefore the body is in much darker tan color than my usual Chevrot style body. Her bisque shoulder and bisque arms also have specks here and there just like her bisuque head. It’s very hard to show on pictures since they are in very tiny scale. But I like buyers to be aware that they are not flaws, I put them on intentionally for this doll.                I also chose this antique blonde color mohair wig for her. The wig is made by Wendy Feidt. I received many email that she looks better in mohair wig and I agree.                            Now I can finally get to work on her dress !!!

やっとボデイーが完成しました。(すいません、一週間ほど休暇を取っていました）　　　　今回は特別に手に入ったビンテージのキッドスキン革を胴体部分に使ったので、いつものボデイーよりちょっと色が濃い目です。でもやっぱり手触りが違いますね。手に吸い付く感じでとてもソフトです。ビスクショルダープレートとビスクアームには、ヘッドと同じようにキルンダストがあちこちに入っています。あまりに小さいので画像に写すのはちょっと大変なのですが、難点ではなく、わざと入れてあることをご了承ください。　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　ウィッグは結局このアンティークブロンドのモヘアウィッグを使うことに決めました。いつもお世話になっているウェンデイーさんの作品です。人毛ウィッグの画像も以前掲載しましたが、モヘアのほうが似合っていると言うメールをたくさんいただきました。私もモヘアのほうが似合っていると思うので、またまたこのスタイルでいきます。　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　これでやっとドレスに取り掛かれます。楽しみです！

I tried this mohair wig on my little Bru Jne 4 head. She looks very different ??　　　　　　モヘアのウィッグを試してみました。なんだかずいぶん雰囲気が違いますね。。。

I finished touch up paint of the bisque and this is completed head of 14″ Bru Jne 4.              I like the looks of this head and I think I am going to use her to make a complete doll.           I took her pictures outside this time to capture true color of the bisque. The way light reflects on her antique eyes is very different from when I took her photos under studio lights.  Her wig is still temporary and I have not decided which type of wig I will use for her. She looks great with this human hair wig but I also want to try mohair wig.  I will be working on her  body next.

最後のタッチアップの絵付けが終わり、14インチの4号ヘッドの完成です。　　　　　　　　今回は実際の色に近いビスクの感じを出すため、屋外で撮影してみました。アンテイークアイの光の反射の仕方も、照明下と比べてずいぶん違います。　ウッグは、まだ決めていません。今つけてもらっている人毛のウィッグも良い感じですが、モヘアも試してみる予定です。次はボデイーの制作に取り掛かります。

She might need one more touch up firing but I could not wait to try out eyes and wig on her, so here she is. I originally wanted to paint sweet expressions on this little Bru head.     I even picked up a blonde mohair wig with soft wave and planed to dress her in pink or aqua blue …   Now I am not sure if she will go for that ….

このヘッドはもう一回タッチアップの絵付けをして釜入れしなければならないのですが、待ちきれなくてグラスアイと仮のウッグをあててみました。もともとのプランは、愛らしいお顔で、ピンクかアクアブルーのドレスが似合うかわいらしい娘にしたかったのですが、なんかちょっとイメージが違ってしまいました。さて、どうしたものか。。。。

” Specks on the bisque”   This is a bit delicate subject since everyone has their opinions.    I use to treat this as “flaw” so I did not use a doll head with lots of specks.                            I happened to have antique Bru Jne head with me right now and I have been studying the bisque very closely comparing with my Bru head. I noticed antique Bru has quite few specks on her bisque. ( as you see it on photo below) My Bru head bisque is very smooth and painted evenly, also spotless. Looks very ” new” compare to antique Bru.               That made me think ” Do I really want this clean new look on my doll ???”                       Well,this time I have decided to take one more step further to make my Bru head look aged by making it bit dirty with specks to resemble ” antique” bisque. I know some people will have problem with this because reproduction dolls are suppose to have ” clean bisque” and many customers prefer that way. So I am giving warning in advance that if you prefer clean spotless bisque, my next doll may not be suitable.

時々ビスクに出る　“キルンダスト”　については、人それぞれ違った意見があると思います。私も以前は、ダストの付いたビスクは難点とみなし使わないでいました。　　　　　　たまたま現在アンティークのBruヘッドが手元にあって、その作りを自作のBruヘッドと比べて研究しているところです。よく観察してみると、アンティークBruにはキルンダストがたくさん付いています。それに比べて私のリプロヘッドはすべすべで色むらもなく、ダストもありません。いかにも”新しく作った物”と言う感じです。そこで自問してみました。”このままこのいかにも新しい感じのビスクを作り続けていきたいのだろうか？”　いくらアンティークアイを使っても、ビスクがこんなに真新しい感じでは、やはり見た目が”リプロ”の域を超えられない。。。と思うのです。そこで、今回は思い切って故意にビスクにダストを入れてみました。　　　　　　これについては、かなり抵抗のある方もいらっしゃると思います。リプロドールというのは、ビスクが綺麗でなのが条件のひとつで、それを好むお客様が多いのは百も承知です。ですので、もしも綺麗なビスクでなければだめ、と言う方には、今回製作中の作品はお勧めできませんので、あらかじめご了承ください。

These kiln dusts are permanent on the bisque. They will not come off by cleaning.

ちなみにこれらのダストはビスクに焼き付けてありますので、後でふき取っても落ちません。

I have a dear friend, Dale Rensing of Ages Designs, who loves to sew. She has entered one of her creations into a contest called Sarifixation. In the contest, one is challenged to take an old, used Indian sari, and create something new and beautiful with it.

A dress designer for antique and antique reproduction dolls, Dale created an Edwardian gown for her 27 inch fashion manikin. It is the same manikin she uses to show off a collection of historical costumes documenting fashion history from the 1860s till 1916. The sari Dale chose was a beautiful mauve and gold pattern. In addition to being interested in fashion history, Dale is also interested in late Imperial Russian history and thought that this fabric would have been something that the Tsarina Alexandra would have loved due to the symbols in the design and its color. So Dale created a gown which have been appropriate for her to wear.

いつもお世話になっている友人のデールさんが、このたびサリフィクセイションのコンテストに応募しました。このコンテストは、インド伝統のサリーを使って新しい何かにリサイクルするというのが目的です。　デールさんはAgesDesignsというドールドレスのパターンショップのオーナーですが、ご自分でドールドレスも制作されています。今回は27インチの大きいファッションマネキンに合う、エドワード時代のドレスを、サリーを使って作りました。彼女はとくにロシアのロマノフ王朝の歴史に興味があり、このドレスもニコライ二世の皇后アレクサンドラをイメージして作ったそうです。

I thought it would be very hard to find antique eyes each time I make dolls but, I found another pair which fit perfectly for my next doll! ( lucky me!) 　　　　　　　　　　　　　My next doll will be 14 inch Bru Jne 4 with these antique blue eyes. I took a picture of antique eye and modern eye side by side. 　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　I wonder if you can see the difference in color. Antique eyes have this wonderful cobalt blue color and for some reason you can’t find this color in modern eyes. I am very excited making a small doll with antique eyes.

アンティークのグラスアイを見つけるのは結構大変なのですが、まめに探すといろんなところから情報が入ってきて、手に入るものなのですね。またまた見つかりました。　　　　　　見つかったのは、この小さなブルーのアンティークアイです。　　　　　　　　　　　　　と言うわけで、次回の作品はこのグラスアイがぴったり合う14インチのBruJne4号にしました。画像で色の違いが出るかちょっと難しいのですが、アンティークアイと現代物のグラスアイを並べてみました。アンティークアイには、現代物のグラスアイには無い群青色っぽい青が良く使われます。この群青色が、あのアンティーク独特の雰囲気をかもし出すのに一役買っていると思うのです。なので、このグラスアイを使って小さい娘をつくるのが今から楽しみです。
