This is 16 inch Bru Jne 6 I made last year and gorgeous peach silk satin dress is created by Annette Knüppel in Germany. She was sold without a dress and I knew this doll would look great in pink tone dress.Then Annette created this marvelous dress for her. 　　　　 I can tell she is very happy and content now. 🙂

上の画像は、ドレス無しでお嫁に行った16インチのBruJne6です。この娘にはピンク系のドレスが似合うとは思っていましたが、そんな折、お客様がドイツのアネッテさんにお願いしてこのドレスを作っていただいたそうです。とてもよく似合っていて、すごく嬉しそうです。　　　良かったですね。幸せそうな彼女を見せていただいて私も嬉しいです。　:-)

I recently had an offer to be featured on ” Antique Doll” magazine published in Russia. Antique doll collecting and reproduction doll making are still new in Russia.                          I order to provide much needed information to Russian doll enthusiasts, very first antique doll magazine was published last year.  I am extremely honored to be featured on this magazine as a doll artist.

このたび私と私の作品が、ロシアのドール雑誌”アンティークドール”に掲載されることになりました。ロシアではアンテイークドールの収集や、リプロドールメイキングはまだ新しい存在で、それを専門に扱う雑誌はありませんでした。そんなロシアのドールファンに必要な情報を提供するため、昨年この雑誌が創刊されました。そのような画期的な雑誌に載せていただくことになり、とても光栄です。

I had photo session with local photographer Gina Munda back in end of March.                 To meet deadline of magazine, I had to finish my 24 inch Bru by photo session day so that she can be photographed. I also needed my portrait with my dolls but I am not very good at being photographed since I am kind of camera shy. On top of that, I was ill on that day from busy schedule in March, I woke up with swollen face with body ache. Despite of my poor condition, Gina performed magic.She photographed wonderful images of me and my dolls. Gina is not only a photographer but also an artist. She instantly understood what kind of images I was looking for in limited amount of time we had for session.                     When I photograph my dolls, they appear more like catalog images because I need to be able to show all detail of doll parts. On the other hand, Gina’s images are very artistic with depth.Her images seem to capture different side of my doll,almost like she is alive.             I just love how she photographed my new Bru doll.

雑誌の締め切りに間に合うように、3月の末に私の自宅にてプロのカメラマンに撮影をお願いしました。撮影当日までに作品を仕上げなければならなかったので、一時はどうなることかと思いました。しかも、3月はとても忙しかったので撮影当日は風邪を引いてしまい、その日はむくんだ顔で起きるし、体中は痛いし、で最悪の出だしだったのですが、カメラマンのジーナは実に素晴らしい方で、とても良い写真を撮ってくれました。　　　　　　　　　　　　　私が作品の写真を撮るときは、どちらかというとカタログっぽい写真になってしまうのですが、ジーナはカメラマンであるとともにアーティストでもあるので、視点が私とまったく違っています。彼女の撮るイメージにはとても深みがあって、同じお人形でもまるで生きているように違った表情を見せてくれます。彼女の撮ったイメージを載せてみましたのでご覧ください。

” Antique Doll”  magazine is published four times a year and I will be on summer issue this year.  Please check on their website to peak on what’s inside of the magazine.                    I can not read in Russian but I can tell this book is full of useful information.                          I better study how to read in Russian !

Inside magazine is full of extensive study of antique dolls

I am so proud to offer this 24 inch Bru Jne 11 doll finally.                                                         She has these amazing antique blue spiral eyes which are extremely hard to find. These eyes are way too nice and  pricey to use for reproduction dolls because they are meant use for antique dolls. But I wanted to make a special Bru Jne doll almost as good as antique Bru so here she is!

お待たせしました。いよいよ24インチBruJne11嬢を販売いたします。　　　　　　　　　　彼女には、リプロドールにはちょっともったいないほどレアで高額なアンテイークスパイラルブルーアイを使いました。本来ならばこのクラスのグラスアイはアンテイークドールに使われるべきなのですが、どうしてもアンテイークのような風格のBruJneを作ってみたかったので、あえて使いました。

Her white bisque is painted very pink, similar color to antique Bru. Her facial feature is also painted carefully to resemble antique Bru doll. In order to fit these antique eyes, I had to make her eye cut larger than usual. That seem to give her this adorable little girl like expressions. I chose this dark blonde antique mohair wig to emphasize that look.

ビスク部分にはアンテイークのBruJneに近い、かなりピンクな肌色をつけました。眉毛や唇などのお顔の絵付けも、なるべくアンテイークに忠実になるよう慎重に描いたつもりです。アンテイークアイを合わせる為に、アイカットは普段よりやや大きめにカットしてあります。したがって、どちらかと言うと幼い顔立ちになりました。その容姿を引き立たせるために、今回はショートカットのアンテイークモヘアウィッグを選びました。

Her body is Chevrot style leather body with metal hip joint. I antiqued leather part to give vintage look. Her lower legs are made with composition.

シェブロースタイルのレザーボディーは、メタルのヒップジョイントが入っています。外側の革の部分はビンテージの雰囲気を出すためにアンテイーク加工してあります。下肢の部分はコンポジション製です。

Her dress is entirely made from antique material. I used sage green with caramel gold antique silk brocade fabric for jacket part and caramel gold and sage green antique silk for skirt and front and back panel. They are all taken from one antique gown from 19th century. Her brown color bonnet is also made from antique silk. Due to its age, there are some tears on fabric but I left them as is to give vintage look. I decorated bonnet with antique silk velvet ribbons and vintage wax flowers.

ドレスには全てアンティークの素材を使いました。ジャケット部分はセージグリーンにキャラメルゴールド色の模様が入ったブロケード生地を、スカートとフロント、バックパネルにはそれぞれセージグリーンとキャラメルゴールド色のアンティークシルク地を使いました。これらの生地は全部同じアンティークドレスから採ったものです。ボネットにはアンティークの茶色のシルク地を使いました。飾りにはアンテイークのシルクベルベットリボンとワックスフラワーをあしらっています。使用した生地の年齢ため、ところどころに劣化が見られますが、ビンテージの風合いを保つため、あえてそのままにしてあります。これはドレスも同じですので、ご了承ください。

Her undergarment has four pieces. She is wearing blue corset made from antique polished cotton. Underneath she is wearing combinations and petticoat, bustle pad to give skirt more volume. They are all made from antique cotton fabric.

下着は4つののパーツからできています。まずはアンティークのポーリッシュトコットンでできたコルセット。その下にはペチコートとコンビネーション、さらにバッスルパッドがついています。これらは全てアンティークのコットン地からできています。

Her shoes are made with black calf leather accented with antique brown silk bow. There are ” Bru Jne Paris” stamps at sole.I used black antique shoe lace buttons to hook loop. She is wearing vintage brown cotton knee high socks.

彼女靴は黒い子牛の革製で、靴底には”BruJneParis”のスタンプが押してあります。飾りはアンティークシルクを使ったリボン、ボタンはアンティークの靴ボタンを使いました。靴下はビンテージの膝丈コットンソックスです。

All her jewelries and accessories are included in this doll. She is wearing blue glass vintage doll earrings and also vintage bar pin. She is holding antique silver mesh doll purse, perfect for display.

彼女がつけているアクセサリーは、すべて作品の付属品です。ブルーガラス細工のビンテージドールイヤリング、胸にはビンテージピン、そして手に持っているシルバーのメッシュドールパースはもちろんアンティークです。

My Bru finally has her undergarment and corset. Now she is fully dressed and ready to be shown.  BTW, I am only showing her undergarment in this posting. ( Oops! Sorry..)

Bru嬢の下着が出来上がりました。これで支度が全部揃ったのでいよいよお披露目です！　あ、でもちょっと待ってください。今回は下着のお披露目だけです。（すいません）

I made her corset by using blue antique polish cotton this time. It’s a simple style corset but it has bone casing inside to keep the shape. She is wearing combinations and petticoat made from antique cotton batiste. They have button closures at the back and all buttons are antique shell buttons. She also has bustle pad at the back.

今回はコルセットにアンテイークのブルーカラーのポーリッシュコットン(すいません、日本語でなんていうかわかりません）を使いました。シンプルなデザインのコルセットですが、ちゃんとボーンも入っています。コンビネーションとペチコートはアンテイークの綿ローン地を使って作りました。後ろについているボタンはすべて古い貝ボタンです。もちろんバッスルパッドもついています。

March was extremely busy month for me. I was taking a class once a week to be certified for an important skill that I needed for my nursing work. That took away majority of work time I could use for doll making. Thank goodness it’s all completed and now I can concentrate on finishing the doll.

************************************************************************************************  3月はナース業に必要なとある資格を取るために、週に一日8時間のクラスに通っていました。なのでドールメイキングに使える時間がぐんと削られてしまい、すっかり予定が遅れています。おかげ様で無事資格も取れ、いよいよ作品完成に集中できます。

I finished making her bonnet and shoes and here are photos of them.        　　　　　　　今日はボネと靴ができたので、画像を載せました。                The bonnet is made from antique brown silk satin. There are some tears of the fabric from its age but I left them as is to give vintage look. I used antique silk velvet ribbon and vintage wax flowers as accent to decorate the top.

ボネはアンティークのシルクサテン地で作られています。古い生地なのでところどころにほころびがありますが、ヴィンテージの風合いを出すためにそのままにしてあります。       　　　　トップの飾りにはアンティークのシルクベルベットリボンと、ヴィンテージのワックスフラワーを使いました。

The shoes are made from black calf leather. I used antique silk ribbon as decoration instead of buckles. Because of the size of the doll is much larger than smaller dolls I often make, these ribbons seem better balanced with the dress.         I am using vintage cotton socks in matching color this time. These are knee high socks and look very cute when she is wearing them. I will be working on under garments next including corset …..

靴は子牛の牛皮製で、今回はブラウンのシルクリボンをアクセントに使いました。ドールのサイズが24インチとかなり大きいので、バックルよりはリボンのほうがドレスとのバランスが取れて合うようです。靴下は、ドレスと合う茶色のヴィンテージコットンソックスを使いました。     膝下丈のハイソックスなので、履いたときになんだか可愛らしいです。　　　　　　　　　さて、次はコルセットを含めた下着に取り掛かります。またしばらくお時間をください。

Here is final look of the dress you all are waiting for.  It came out very chic as I expected and I am very happy with the result. Interestingly, I happened to have collection of caramel gold color antique lace and antique velvet ribbons that match perfectly for this dress.           I admit I am a hoarder when it’s comes to antique materials but it paid off this time!             I buy lots of ” I don’t need now but I may need them later ” kind of lace and fabrics. It will be very difficult to find antique materials that fits just right for the dress so I try to buy them when I find good one. But it took me for long time to train my eyes so that I know what to look for. 🙂

*************************************************************************************************お待たせしました。やっとドレスが完成しました。予想通り、かなりシックな感じに仕上がりましたが満足です。制作中不思議なことに、まるでこのドレスのために用意したかのように、キャラメルゴールド色のアンティークのレースとベルベットのリボンをコレクションの中に持っていました。　アンティークのレースや布に関しては、はっきり言って私は”ためこむ病”です。　　クローゼットの中に入りきらないくらい溜め込んでいます。でも、おかげで今回はそれが役に立ちました。こんな風に色もデザインもぴったり合う”アンティーク物”を探そうと思うとなかなか見つからないものです。なので私は、”今要らないけれど将来使いそう”　なアンティーク素材を見つけたら、なるたけ買うようにしています。ただし、使えそうな良いものを見分ける目を肥やすのに、かなり時間がかかりました。

These antique buttons are so hard to find. I am very happy that I could use them for this dress. このタイプのアンテイークボタンはとても探すのが難しいのですが、このドレスにぴったり合ってすごく嬉しいです。取っておいたいた甲斐がありました。

This silk velvet ribbons matches color perfectly.                                                                   このシルクベルベットリボンも色合いがぴったりです。

I love using double shell ruffle as edging trim. They seem to add richness to doll dress and it’s often used for antique French bebe dresses. So I naturally like to use it for my doll dresses too. It’s just ….. very time consuming to make it …..  🙁

*************************************************************************************************私はアンティークべべドレスに良く使われているダブルシェルラッフルトリムがとても好きで、好んで使っています。これがあるのと無いのとでは、出来上がりの見た目に結構な差が出てきます。　　　　ただ。。。作るのにとても手間がかかって。。。:-(

Finally, I made front panel ( plastron) for the dress. You can create so many different patterns for the plastron and I am always looking for unique patterns for my doll dress.        I usually flip through books and online images to find interesting patterns and make some alternations the way I like.  I also pay extra attention to how to wrinkle fabrics.                          If I don’t iron right to make “good looking” wrinkles, it will spoil the looks of the entire dress.  It’s juts ” wrinkles” but they are very important.

*************************************************************************************************やっとフロントパネル(プラストロン）ができました。プラストロンの模様は無限に在るのですが、私は特に凝ったパターンをいつも探しています。参考書をひっくり返したり、PCにファイルしたイメージを穴が開くほど見入ったりして、いいのが見つかればそれにちょっと手を加えて好みのパターンに直します。特に生地の”皺”の寄せ方には人一倍気を使っています。　　　この部分に巧く雰囲気のある皺を寄せられるかどうかで、ドレス全体のイメージが決まってきます。たかが”皺”と言えどあなどれません。

I have been super busy since end of the last month and unable to post articles as much as I’d like to.

Right now I am working on the back part of the dress. —- Back side of the dress which doesn’t get as much attention as the front side. Therefore, I could just make it very simple and easy. But for some reason, I can not do that. I want to make a doll that I paid attention to detail from head to toe. So here I am spending all day for making this parts.                         I wonder if I can finish the doll by April ….??

さて現在、ジャケットの後ろの部分に取り掛かってます。そうです、後ろですよ、後ろ。　　後ろ部分は、ドレス前部と違って見られる事がほとんどないので、適当に簡単にまとめることもできるんですが、う～ん、なぜかそれができない性分なんです。　　　　　　　 　　　 やっぱりどうせ作るなら、頭からつま先まで凝った作品をつくりたい!　という厄介な性格でして。。でも、4月までには完成させたいんですが、無理かな???

Working on making patterns for the new dress today. I usually use paper towels to make basic design and keep adjusting small details by adding or changing the shape. I often receive questions if I sell dress patterns I use for my dolls but I don’t have resalable patterns because they are made with paper towels … Sorry.

The fabric I am going to use are antique silk brocade with caramel gold patterns on sage green base. This will be used at jacket part and matched caramel gold silk for front panel.These fabrics came form antique gown from 19th century. Very chic color combinations. Sage green is one of my favorite colors and I can’t wait to see the finished dress already.

*************************************************************************************************今日はドレスのパターンを作っています。私が使うドレスのパターンは、大体が作品に合わせてカスタムメイドされたもので、ペーパータオルでできています。ベースになるデザインのペーパータオルをボデイーに当てて、デザインを変えたい部分を切ったり、増やしたりして形を変えながら、ちょうど良くフィットするまで直していきます。よく、私の作品に使われているパターンを売って欲しいと言うリクエストをいただきますが、残念ながら全部ペーパータオルでできたカスタム製のため、販売できるような代物ではありません。申し訳ありません。

さて、今回使う予定の生地は、セージグリーンのベースにキャラメルゴールドの模様が入ったシルクブロケード地をジャケット部分に、キャラメルゴールドのシルクをフロントパネルに考えています。どちらも19世紀のアンティークドレスから取った生地で、なかなかシックな色あわせです。セージグリーンは私の好きな色のひとつなので、今から仕上げるのが楽しみです。
