I bisque fired second head. The eye cut seem to be perfect to fit  antique eyes!                   I was so excited and then, as I inspect the rest of the bisque surface, I noticed some unknown line on her chin…. It’s hard to show on photo image but it’s very visible on naked eyes.    Looks like either did not get cleaned well during final cleaning or kind of marbling. Either way I won’t be able to use this head so it goes into trash. What a bummer …  🙁       But this is nothing unusual. It’s almost miracle if I make perfect bisque fired head in first trial.  I just have to keep repeating process till I make the perfect one.

*************************************************************************************************二作目ヘッドの焼成が完了し、アンテイークアイを合わせてみると、今回はバッチリな感じです!　さて、他のビスク部分の仕上がりを入念にチェックしていくと、なんと、あごの辺りに原因不明の横のラインが!!!　(ここでしばし、ボーゼン状態）　　　　　　　　　　　　　　画像ではよく見えませんが、目で見るとしっかりあります。最終クリーニングでの段階で見落とされたのか、マーブリングの一種か、どちらにしてもこのヘッドはボツです。　　　　　　アイカットが良くできただけにかなり凹んでいす。でも、一発でアイカットもビスクの状態もパーフェクトなヘッドが出来ることのほうがミラクルです。がっかりしてる暇はないので、次のヘッド制作へゴーです。

 After soft fired greenware, I use wet cleaning method to complete detailed cleaning and make eye openings. I only use scalpel ( or called exacto knife) to cut eye holes. I don’t use eye bevelers since I tend to chip eye rim when I use them.

After bisque fired first head, I attempt to fit antique eyes but eye hole was not big enough.       The dome of antique eyes are so high, I have to make another head with larger eye cut.  So I poured another head today.Got to start all over again.

***********************************************************************************************先日クリーニングしたヘッドが上手く焼成できたので、さっそくアンティークのグラスアイを合わせてみたところ、アイホールがちょっとだけ小さすぎてドームの部分が引っかかってしまいます。ということで、アイホールを大きく調節したヘッドを作るために新たなヘッドの型抜きをしました。また一からやり直しです。ううっ。。

After this greenware dried, it goes into kiln to be soft fired. I use wet-cleaning method and the greenware have to be hard enough not to break when wet but also have to be soft enough to be able to sand and cut.                                                                                             I often work with one head at a time because my kiln doesn’t have much space inside. But most of all, I want to focus on one doll at a time instead of mass producing.

***********************************************************************************************　グリーンウェアが乾燥したら、キルンに入れてソフト焼きをします。私はウェットクリーニング派なので、グリーンウェアは水に入れても壊れない程度に硬くなければならず、サンドペーパーをかけたりナイフで削ったりできる程度に柔らかくなくてはなりません。　　　　　　　　　私のキルンはあまり大きくないので一度に何体もの作品作りはできません。というか、大量生産するとひとつひとつに十分な気配りができないので、なるたけ一体に集中しながら作業するようにしています。

This is something I have never done before. Making a doll smaller than 14 inches.               She is AM Googly 241 reproduction doll and she is only 7.5 inches tall.                                 She has a tiny composition body and I made everything from scratch. Making such a small dress was also a chore. I almost had spasm on my fingers. ( That’s why I don’t usually make small dolls..)  But she turned out very cute and I received a biggest complement from my family. LOL   I made her as a Christmas gift for my dear friend so she is not for sale. I may make some for sale in future if I have extra time. We will see …                           I just thought people may enjoy seeing her photos. She has a shy but very sweet smile to warm your heart !                                                                                                                     Happy Holidays everyone!

*************************************************************************************************今回は私の初挑戦の娘をご紹介します。　AMグーグリー241モールドの娘です。　　　　今まで14インチ以下のサイズは作ったことがなかったので、この7.5インチの娘はちょっと難しかったですよ。ボデイーも小さいコンポジション製で、パーツの流し込みをするのに結構手間取りました。パーツの中身を空洞に型抜きしなければならないんですが、小さいモールドの場合、それがなかなか難しいのです。しかも、こんな小さなドレスも作ったことがないので、指がつるかと思いました。（だから普段は小さい娘は作らないんですが。。）　　　　　　　おかげさまで、初めての割には可愛く出来上がりました。なぜか家族（男性二人）には大ヒットで、今まで作った人形で一番良い出来だ、とか言われました。（ちょっとガーン）

この娘は販売用ではなく、今回特別にお友達のクリスマスプレゼント用に作りました。　　　いつか機会があれば、販売用に制作するかもしれません。　　　　　　　　　　　　　　とりあえず画像だけですが、皆さんに楽しんでもらえたら嬉しいと思います。　　　　　　　それでは、どうか素敵なクリスマスをお迎えください。　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　来年も引き続きよろしくお願いいたします。

I picked a winner of 16 inch “Ready-to-Dress” Bru Jne 6 this morning and it has been notified to the buyer.  If you did not get email from me by now, unfortunately you did not win her. I received quite a few applications this time again and I like to thank all of them who wish to purchased her.

She was my last doll I can offer this year. I will be making a new doll from January and planing to make larger doll next time. I will be bloging process of making new doll again so please look forward!
